A South African singer and a song writer, Mthandazo Gatya got to share a stage with an American idol John Legend.
This past Friday 23 September, the ‘Senzeni’ hitmaker was invited by a Grammy award-winning artist, John Legend on stage after their TikTok duet went viral in just a few days, they finally met and performed John Legend’s latest song ‘Nervous’ together at the Sun Arena which made Mthandazo a trending topic lately.
Mthandazo had the biggest career moment in his life performing with the US superstar on the same stage, as he has been in the industry for some time but never shot to internet fame like this. He recently participated in the #OpenVerseChallenge on TikTok with an African touch to John Legend’s song from his new album.
Mthandazo expressed his gratitude to Mzansi for making it possible for him to get this great opportunity.
“Thank you all for making sure John Legend sees my duet. Great news is that he loved it and replied, as to what will happen next, we can leave that to God, thank you from the bottom of my heart”
TshisaLIVE had an opportunity to chat with the 12-time Grammy-winning artist after the release of his 8th studio album, John Legend gushed over SA and his ‘Rainbow Nation’ fans.
